art lesson

Hello!..
Today we are going to make a wiggle squiggle.

There are many things we need to consider before the production of our wiggle squiggle and like recipes my momma uses for beachgreens, wiggle squiggles need some items for preparation.
  1. Proper Clothing - a button-up shirt worn backwards or a fashionable set of overalls
  2. Marking Device - crayon, pencil, marker, chalk (or paint if you are lucky)
  3. Medium - paper, board, substrate, walls (based on approval)
  4. Good Attitude
Now we are ready to start!

First we need to prepare our surface.

If you are using paper, a new sheet will suffice but if you are using canvas a good coating of gesso can go a long way. Those of you who choose to go the way of the wall make sure it is properly taped, mudded and primer-ed. Lighter colors make a great choice for background. Here I am going to use a 3' x 2' whiteboard and it starts and ends with a simple cleaning.

Next we select our colors and get to work.

Wiggle squiggles are a fun objects to create.
Once a starting place is chosen let your mind go free.

Then after the initial wiggle squiggle sets the tone of your piece you can add new elements. Add more squiggles and colors. Shapes and happy faces can really bring out some emotions in any piece.

Don't forget the details.
Textures add a real depth too!

Finally we are finished and have something to be proud of...

Thanks for joining me on my introduction to wiggle squiggles.
